    Volunteer face painting can be costly in risk and materials. Acquiring proper professional products can be expensive and challenging without knowing reputable sources, proper sanitation products, and necessary practices. Additionally, insurance is needed for added liability coverage.

    Volunteer face painting doesn't always impress your guests and can cost you in guest satisfaction as well as their health and safety.

  • If you're planning a birthday party, festival, or community event, it's best to book as early as possible. Many clients book 3–6 weeks in advance for birthday parties, while larger events such as summer festivals, corporate events, school fun fairs, and holiday celebrations often book several months ahead.

    At MJC Artistry, summer dates often begin filling up as early as spring. If you already have an event date in mind, we recommend booking early to secure your preferred date.

  • Each artist can paint approximately 20–25 persons per hour. Birthday parties are capped at 20 kids per 2-hour booking. For large events we highly recommend booking multiple artists to ensure as many attendees as possible can get painted and to avoid disappointment.

  • Yes, professional face painting is very safe for kids when done by a trained artist using proper hygiene practices and cosmetic-grade products. Reputable face painters follow strict safety guidelines including using skin-safe paints, sanitizing brushes and sponges between children, and avoiding cross-contamination.

  • Face painting is generally recommended for children ages 3 and up. Younger toddlers often have more sensitive skin and may have difficulty sitting still during the painting process. Simple designs may occasionally be done for slightly younger children depending on the situation and with parent approval.

  • Professional face painters should carry liability insurance when working at birthday parties, festivals, corporate activations, and community events. Insurance protects both the entertainer and the event organizer in the unlikely case of accidents or property damage. Many venues, municipalities, and event planners require a Certificate of Insurance (COI) before the event.

    MJC Artistry is fully insured and carries $5 million in liability coverage. Certificates of Insurance and additionally insured COIs are available upon request.

  • We use professional cosmetic-grade, skin-safe face paints that are FDA-compliant and designed specifically for use on skin. Some of our favourite brands include GTX, Diamond FX, and Fusion. Strict hygiene protocols are followed at every event, including sanitized tools and clean water systems.

  • Face paint typically lasts 4–8 hours depending on skin type and environmental factors. We use water-based face paint which is easily removed with soap and water.

    💡 Lather soap and water on hands then apply to face paint, emulsifying the paint, then wipe with a damp face cloth for easy removal.

    💡 Use makeup remover, coconut oil, or baby oil for any remaining colour stains.

  • We create a wide variety of twisted designs! Some of our most popular include dinosaurs, swords, magic wands, flowers, balloon animals, and hats. We love incorporating themes into our designs — let us know if you have a specific theme in mind and we will do our best to bring it to life.

    The detail and complexity of designs vary based on time allotted and number of guests. If you would like more elaborate designs, we recommend booking additional time.

  • Client agrees to provide a safe, weather-protected work area for outdoor events. If conditions are unsafe due to rain, extreme heat, cold, wind, or storm risk, an indoor backup space is required. Once the artist has arrived on site the full contracted rate is due regardless of weather changes. We recommend always having an indoor backup plan for outdoor events.

  • For indoor events we require a minimum 6' x 6' space per artist with adequate lighting and one 6ft table and two chairs per artist for events under 3 hours. For events 4 hours or more we provide our own tables and chairs. For outdoor events the client must provide a fully covered and shaded area of at least 10'L x 10'W x 11'H of level ground. If needed we can provide a 10' x 10' tent for an additional $80 fee. Access to a restroom and parking within close proximity to the event is also required.

  • A 50% deposit is required to confirm and reserve your event date. For corporate, community, and organization events the remaining balance is due within 30 days after the event. Accepted payment methods include e-transfer, cash, cheque, invoice link, or on-site tap.

  • Events cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled start time are charged 100% of the contracted total. Cancellations made within 7 days of the event are charged 50% of the contracted total. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a new date if rescheduled with 7 or more days notice. If MJC Artistry must cancel due to emergency or illness, a replacement artist will be provided or a full refund issued.

  • Window paintings can be removed by spraying warm soapy water or windex on the window and letting soak for a couple of minutes, then using a window scraper to scrape paint off, finish by cleaning the window with windex and your choice of cloth/newspaper/paper towel.

    We can remove your window painting for free when installing a new painting to replace the current one, or for an additional fee.

  • The commissioning process begins with an initial consultation to discuss your ideas, preferences and budget. I’ll then provide a concept sketch and a detailed quote before starting the project.

  • Mural pricing is based on several factors including size, complexity, design, required project time, and location. For an accurate quote please contact me with specific details about your vision!

  • We currently only offer interior murals, however window paintings I do on both the inside and outside of the window depending on the project.

  • Absolutely! We use high-quality, non-toxic paint that is safe for both children and pets, ensuring a healthy environment in your space. It is recommended to give spaces 24-48 hours to dry before returning to regular activities in it.

  • Completion time varies depending on the size and complexity of the mural. Small murals may take a few days, while larger or more detailed projects could take a week or longer. We'll discuss the timeline during the consultation.

  • How do I maintain my mural once it's completed?

    To maintain the beauty of your mural, avoid using harsh chemicals or scrubbing the surface. A gentle wipe with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. We can provide specific care instructions tailored to your mural after it’s completed.

  • While our primary service area is the Lower Mainland BC, we may consider travel for larger projects. Please reach out to discuss the specific details and locations.
